Are oysters male or female ? 

Just like warm-blooded animals, oysters are either male or female. But, oysters have gonads that generate eggs as well as sperm, so they have the ability to change their sex, which they do at least once. Every year, an oyster excretes one to 10 million eggs. Only a few of them grow into oysters.

Are oysters good for you ?

If you eat just four medium-size oysters daily, you'll get the recommended daily allowances of calcium, copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and zinc. How do you tell if an oyster is alive?

If the shell is open, tap on it with your fingers. If it snaps shut, then it's alive.
